win2k ftp services

Dear Sir:
How can I check the ftp service of win2k is ok?
then The Unix box can do the ftp job.
Otherwise, the ftp process on unix can't close the job.(if the win2k ftp service is not open)

thanks
Jack

Re: win2k ftp services

Hi,

You can check whether the service is running or not through your services. Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services.

are you transfering large files through ftp??

Thanks & Regards

Re: win2k ftp services

Jack,

You need to make sure that both the IIS and FTP services are running, Sritharan gave the instructions on that above.

You can test connectivity right on the W2K server by doing an FTP to itself in a command prompt. If that fails you know the issue is internal, if it succeeds then you likely have a network issue.

Re: win2k ftp services

you can either ftp to it from somewhere (including from the same machine) or you can telnet to port 21, as the ftp daemon understands telnet also.

Otherwise, I don't understand your question.

Re: win2k ftp services

sorry! I should describe my question more clear.
I have a Unix box,and some files will need to ftp from Unix to win2k machine.
How can I make sure the ftp service is ok,then I do the batch job from Unix to ftp to win2k machine.
This is job will be a batch job.
So,if ftp service is disable on win2k machine,I will stop ftp to win2k machine.
So,How can I make sure the ftp service status?
thanks
Jack
