Re: 30th years anniversary of VAX/VMS on a VAX 11/780
Yes, it is not only impressive to see a platform achieve this longevity while retaining its viability.
It is even more impressive when you realize that this has been done without incompatible changes to the interfaces, and with the assimilation of many technologies and alternatives not conceived of at the time of the initial design.
Indeed, Happy Pearl Anniversary OpenVMS!

Re: 30th years anniversary of VAX/VMS on a VAX 11/780
Indeed: Happy anniversary, but even more:
MANY HAPPY RETURNS!!
I truly hope to reach my retirement (still some years to go!), while always doing something or other with VMS.
For now: time to celebrate.
Proost.
Have one on me.

Ah, memories of RSX-11M and the light blue cheat sheet booklet.
It's been a good ride, and still going.
Who woudl have thunk it!
Thanks all,
Hein.

Re: 30th years anniversary of VAX/VMS on a VAX 11/780
Thanks to all who invented, developed, supported, and improved (Open)VMS over the years and made it what it is today. Thanks as well to all the users; without their commitment to this fine operating system it would already be history like many other systems created before and after OpenVMS.
Looking forward to a long OpenVMS future!
Hans.

Happy 30th anniversary.
Hope that the greatest OS will have many more anniversaries.
And yes, I really liked vax, too.

Re: 30th years anniversary of VAX/VMS on a VAX 11/780
OpenVMS deserve we should be working to make it a common OS for workstation, PC and Laptop
We should enforce a commitment to encourage HP to make this a reality.
It should be a special version capable to run in dual boot system like Linux and Windows, possibly using and Motif and the alternate of a Open Source GUI
At the beginning there may NOT be too much application software for common end users, but after running for a while people would get amaze of the conversion coming in.
