AS1200 + KGPSA + VMS v7.3

I want to install a KGPSA (1Gb FC HBA) into
an AS1200 running OpenVMS V7.3 so I can
temporarily connect it to our HP SAN.

(Note: I will NOT be using the SAN for
booting, so not having WIDMGR is not
a problem.)

1) Can anyone confirm that an AS1200 will
support a KGPSA (any limitations?)?

2) Can anyone confirm that VMS V7.3 will
support a KGPSA?

Thanks all

The Alphaserver 1200 supports a kgpsa-ca and according the link below kgpsa-bc. OpenVMS 7.3 supports fibre-channel. I believe the minimum version is 7.2-1 with ECOs. You'll also need a recent firmware, but you'll need that to boot 7.3 as well. See http://h18002.www1.hp.com/alphaserver/options/as1200/as1200_15_72_options.html#OptListHead for more details.

Re: AS1200 + KGPSA + VMS v7.3

There are two 1GBit versions of the KGPSA:

- KGPSA-BC (= Emulex LP7000)
- DS-KGPSA-CA (= Emulex LP8000)

Next Saturday I'll work on a customer's cluster that has two AS1200 with DS-KGPSA-CA adapters. I know he used to run VMS V7.3 and boot from HSG80. These days it is V7.3-2 and two EVA3000.

Yes, the AS1200 does include the WWIDMGR!

>>> set mode diag

makes it available.
