Advanced Server V7.3A - Force user logoff after logon hours expire

Hi,

I am running Advanced Server V7.3A. My domain has the accounting policy - Force user logoff after logon hours expire - set.

It works, but my users get forced off at 18:00, not 19:00. The timezone on the VMS system is set to Zulu with differential of 7200 which is correct. The NT Domain timezone is set to Harare/Pretoria which is also correct. Any ideas as to why it forces my users off an hour early ?

With regards
Andrew

could it be one of the off by one hour problems listed in the FAQ

Check the time from a PC client using
NET TIME \\server to see if this matches
the VMS SHOW TIME time.

I tend to agree with Antoniov. Assuming that your problem only started this week then it appears that your system time could have changed a week early. This month could cause some confusion as it contains 5 Sundays and some versions of DECnet will implement the change on the 4th Sunday.

Hi,

I assume you are using 7.3A ECO 3 :

ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/openvms_patches/layered_products/alpha/ADVANCSERV-V0703-A3.txt

It may be related to the TDF :

Time served to NT workstations in network off by one hour

Environment:
* VAX/VMS 7.2
* PATHWORKS 6.0C
* TCP/IP V5.0A

Problem Description:
* Time served to NT workstations in network off by one hour
* SYS$TIMEZONE_DIFFERENTIAL logical is incorrectly defined
* Problem only apparent after system reboot
* Problem is resolved by running the VMS command procedures SYS$Manager:UTC$TIMEZONE_SetUp.Com and SYS$Manager:UTC$Configure_TDF.Com

Solution:
* Insure that the sys$timezone_differential logical is consistently defined on all nodes in the associated OpenVMS cluster.

Cause:
* Sys$timezone_differential logical is defined incorrectly on other
nodes in the cluster. This causes the timezone to be reset on the problem node at
reboot.

Re: Advanced Server V7.3A - Force user logoff after logon hours expire

Hi Andrew,

OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.3 and later contain a system parameter, AUTO_DLIGHT_SAV, that controls automatic switching between standard time and daylight saving time.

If AUTO_DLIGHT_SAV is set to 1, an OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.3 (and later) system automatically sets the time forward or back when local time changes between daylight saving time and standard time.

If AUTO_DLIGHT_SAV is set to 0 (the default), OpenVMS does not automatically change between daylight saving time and standard time.

The AUTO_DLIGHT_SAV parameter and the automatic changes between daylight saving time and standard time are implemented only on OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.3 and later.

For this to work correctly, you must set a time zone rule for your time zone. See Section 6.2 for information about setting time zone rules on OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.3 systems.

For more details you can got to below link

http://h71000.www7.hp.com/doc/731FINAL/6017/6017pro_018.html.

Hope it helps,

Ciao,
