Backup total size

Dear friends.

Can anyone tell me how can I get a summary of the total size written to the tape at a backup command? I tried looking for a suitable parameter in the VMShelp but no such luck.

Thank-you

Re: Backup total size

if your backup command has a /lis=file, at the end of your file, you will have 2 lines

Total of N files, M blocks
End of Save Set

Re: Backup total size

as far as I know there isn't one. You may be able to do something with the listing file.

Re: Backup total size

The only way we get listings of a tape is as follows:
BACKUP/LIST tape_drive:*.BCK/LIS=tape.lis
This would give all the save sets on a tape (giving that it has been backed using save sets) and a summary for each save set done.
Just edit the tape.lis file for your results.

Re: Backup total size

The problem with relying on the LIST file for the information is that it will include files that are flagged as /NOBACKUP, even though the actual data in the files doesn't make it to the tape.
