Boot from CD, no input possible

I tried to take a stand-alone backup of my Alpha DS25, OpenVMS8.2.
I boot from CD, get the expected menu with the 8 choices, but when I try to enter "7" at the prompt to get to DCL, I cannot give any input. The keyboard does not respond, whatever I type. It is connected OK, but no led's are lit.
I reset the system, booted again from CD, same thing. What can be wrong?

"The keyboard" is what, connected where? (It
worked well enough to say

Re: Boot from CD, no input possible

Are the mouse and keyboard connectors reversed?

Is the keyboard known to be good?

Have you tried another keyboard?

Is this a known-good AlphaServer DS25, or is this one you've just acquired and are working with new? (eg: do you know that this hardware configuration works in other contexts?)

And yes, what are the details of the particular keyboard model and the keyboard connector and the connection to the AlphaServer DS25?

What sort of terminal or terminal emulator is in use here?

Re: Boot from CD, no input possible

I used a FujitsuSiemens keyboard directly plugged in into the DS25. It worked OK when typing at the console >>>B dqa0, and before when I had a DecWindows login session.
The system is in use since 3 years, I was able to use the menu when booting from CD before, with the same keyboard.

Anyway, I plugged in an old Digital keyboard now, and it seems OK now.

Thanks for your replies!
