nmap can be a useful (free) tool (and see the zenmap GUI stuff for mapping, if you want network diagrams), and there are other network-mapping tools that are available.

I'd be floored if HP didn't have something that did this for you, too. While I generally don't use the HP networking tools suite, HP Network Node Manager is probably in the right range for what you're seeking here. (If you choose NNM or other HP OV or web-based management software, do keep current on the security patches.)

Dave,

Verify with your network folks that the 801 VLAN you are going to move to is configured to bridge non-routeable protocols. This VLAN should also be the default VLAN for the Alpha's switch port and probably for the BladeCenter's VC modules.
