Re: DCPS printe que again
can you provide us with the output of a show que/full/all of the queue in question. Also exactly what print command is used? Is there maybe a print:==print/retain=always somewhere?
Greetings, Martin

Re: DCPS printe que again
you might want to have a look in DCPS 2.3 Release Notes section 4.4 regarding "Connection termination for raw TCP/IP Queue".
Hope that helps!

Re: DCPS printe que again
no I don't view /RETAIN

/DEFAULT=(FORM=DEFAULT) /NOENABLE_GENERIC /LIBRARY=DCPS_LIB /PROC=DCPS$SMB /NO_INITIAL_FF /SCHEDULE=(NOSIZE)
Thanks

Re: DCPS printe que again
Check your symbols as well. PRINT can be set to be PRINT/RETAIN without you knowing it ;-)
and so it will be a print-job parameter, in stead of a queue parameter. (SHOW SYMBOL /GLOBAL P* would do, eventually PR

Re: DCPS printe que again
It may have been caused by somebody having a problem on this queue, therefore setting the /RETAIN switch on and forgetting to take it off.

Re: DCPS printe que again
no symbol redefinition.
Terry,
I set que/noretain.
Problem seems xerox printer (you see my prior forum post) is not fully recognized by DCPS; print is queued but communication is not successfully closed, so entry stay holding.
Now I'll do another tries.
Thanks

Re: DCPS printe que again
The major feature of V2.3 is the addition of LPD support. Printing via LPD allows printing to printers that don't support bi-directional IP communications.
If nothing else works properly LPD might help you.

Re: DCPS printe que again
I've tried to use LPD but I can't understand as work.
In DCPS$STARTUP.COM I've wrote (in P2 param) axpsvr::"lpd/xx.xx.xx.xx" where axpsvr is my VMS server, lpd is protocol (now I don't remember exactly the word but I've copied from DCPS documentation) and xx.xx.xx.xx is IP address of printer; I've not supplied queue name because printer hasn't this feature; documentation tell queue name may be null.
But when I executed DCPS$STARTUP I've reveiced error message (now I don't remembere exactly but is like wrong server name); I've tried removing server name but I've receiced another error message; so I've suspended this work with intention fo read better documentation.
If you have some idea post any clue.
Thanks
