DECServer 90L+ with modems?

Hi,

Does anyone know if DECServer 90L+ devices can be used with modems? All of the documentation that I have found (on www.digitalnetworks.net) say that they are meant for terminals and printers only. I am just wondering if anyone here is able to use the 90L+ with modems successfully.

Thank you in advance!

Re: DECServer 90L+ with modems?

The problem with the likes of the 90L+ is that is lacks the full modem control signals (like DCD,RI etc). Effectively, you have only got Rx, TX, DTR, DSR.

If your require the modem signals then you should go for another DECServer model which support full modem control.

Re: DECServer 90L+ with modems?

I have used modems on a DECserver 300 using the MMJ connections. Yes, you lose modem control and have limited functionality, but it is fine for outgoing use and might be okay for incoming depending on what you want to do with it.

I am pretty sure that working onthe 300 should mean that it will work the same on the 90L+.

Re: DECServer 90L+ with modems?

Hi,
I use 90L+ with modems without problems. I disabled some hardware control signal on modem and I use XON/XOFF protocol instead.
It's the same with 90M or 90TL.
