I always used the attached little C-program to reset the fileattributes of Backupsavesets.

I downloaded the .A saveset of DISKBLOCk and checked with FIX_SAVESET, it 9216 (see attached log).

For me,
best solution is reload files on PC, then ftp on alpha with BINARY mode.
After of this, if you cannot yet read you can user set attribute command.
If you FTPed in text mode, before every hex 0A byte, ftp added hex 0D byte, so your saveset is unreadable.
