Re: DS10 reset itself
The DEVOFFLINE message is a standard VMS error message, just indicating what it says: a device is no longer reachable.
HELP/MESSAGE DEVOFFLINE
DEVOFFLINE, device is off line
Facility: OPCOM, Operator Communication Process
Explanation: This message is displayed on the operator's console when a
device goes off line in the OpenVMS system configuration.
User Action: Take appropriate measures to bring the device on line.
The BUFCLEAN seems to be from an applicacation?
Pls. check, if any device errors had been logged (SHO ERROR, DIAGNOSE) to detect which device is missing. A SHOW DEVIVE [D] may also help.
regards Kalle

Re: DS10 reset itself
You wrote 'reset itself', did the DS10 reboot/crash? Perhaps a dump was written, you may check with ANA/DUMP or look at the CLUE file in SYS$ERRORLOG.

Re: DS10 reset itself
Check Dump files.
Check if anything showed up in the WEBES or Decevent logs. This shows hardware errors. I use webes so I don't have the decevent commands.
I don't have the exact command but its something like "anal/error" on some of the older systems.
Did the system reboot itself or halt on the boot sequence?
At the boot prompt - show dev and show. Did the boot disk disappear?
