Delete word and line to right of cursor
Hi,
Can you please let me know how to delete a word and line to the right of cursor position on the VMS prompt ($) and editor?
I know that to delete a word on the left of VMS prompt we use CTRL/J and for line either CTRL/U or CTRL/X, but looking for help to delete on right of the cursor.
Thanks in advance,
Sandeep Kumar

Re: Delete word and line to right of cursor
The $ prompt would indicate that you are at the command line interface(CLI) which is NOT an editor per se. There are some line editing features built into the CLI, but it is not a true editor. As you have found, there are a few keystrokes that can shorten some tasks (ctrl U for example erases the entire line from your cursor position to the beginning) that were added in the V4 timeframe IRRC. Before that, your only option was to retype the entire line. This is the long winded version of: No there is no key to do this as far as I know.
Dan
P.S.
FWIW: THe sequence within EDT of Keyad-2 is the DEL-EOL (delete to End Of Line). To delete a word, the keypad sequence would be Keypad - which is the DEL-W.

Not really an answer to your question, but ...
