Device Control Library for Canon Image Runner Printers

I need to set up a Canon Image Runner Printer on DECPrint Supervisor 2.0 using a compatable device control library. I am able to communicate with it using the Telnet print symbiont however, it does not print properply because I anm not sure which device control library to use.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx Fred

Fred,

If the Canon is in PCL5 mode, you can use the HP Laserjet library. Ofcourse, if you don't have any library you can also print plain text. This is OK for testing the communicatie.

(/PROCESSOR=TCPIP$TELNETSYM/ON=":9100")

Re: Device Control Library for Canon Image Runner Printers

Fred,

I do not know THIS specific printer, but any printer I have met so far DID have a command to switch to PCL.
That command would normally be in its documentation, be it printed or on the net.
Once you have that, all you have to do is make sure any que that prints to that printer has a /SETUP module that starts with that command.
Be friendly, and undo it with the last command in your /RESET module.

It might be wise to check which level of PCL is supported.

Proost.

Have one on me.
