Edit of OpenVMS system messages

How can I edit system messages? I need to change the wording on the message that users receive when their password is ready to expire.

Those strings are stored in a 'message' file (SYS$MESSAGE:SYSMGR.EXE). As far as I can tell, there is no 'supported' method available.

You can search for the 'UNMESSAGE' utility as I don't have a pointer handy. It will convert the binary file back to a source file for the MESSAGE utility.

I find UNMESSAGE for VMS on Vax but no Alpha OpenVMS version. Thanks.....
