Re: Error VMS/VAX V6.2 Crashed, While Taking Image Backup

Sorry; that's not an answerable question. What was included is not the error that triggered the crash, that's the (generic) end of an OpenVMS crash sequence.

The trigger for this could be a hardware error, or could be a software error.

ANALYZE /ERROR and ANALYZE /CRASH commands here would be a reasonable first steps, to try to localize the trigger.

OpenVMS VAX V6.2 also has a number of ECO kits and if you're not current on those kits, install those kits now. There are bugs in the file system and in device drivers and other components that can all generate misbehavior.

The other discussion is the sheer age of the hardware and software here; if this is the same VAX 4000 model 705A box that was mentioned elsewhere, this gear is over a decade old and pieces here are certainly candidates for failures. You need to plan for this.

Monish,

please set DUMPSTYLE=3 and repeat the command. If the system crashes, please provide the full console output.

Volker.
