Extending Certification Validity period.

I (and a couple of compatriots) have in the past passed the exams to become CSA and (for some: or) CSE.

The validity of those (at least MY) certificates was set to expire 31-12-2010.
As I understood, those certificates would be extended by "sufficient relevant training".
If (bio-)memory serves me well, amongst others, VMS bootcamps, TUDs, and VMS-oriented Decus/Encompas/name-of-today SIG sessions qualify towards this goal.
In a recent discussion between the chair of the Dutch VMS SIG and the Dutch VMS Ambassador confusion rose.
Said Chair was of my opinion, but the Ambassador was unaware of the need, let alone the mechanism(s), to report attendance.

They asked me to inquire into the subject.

Is anyone aware of the (current) proceedings?
- WHO is authorized to report attendences?
- to WHOM should those reports go?
- in what WAY?
- any pertinent info on attendants required?
- how is the Certified Professional informed of the extension?
- any relevant info I forgot to ask?

I was thinking that it was through the ITRC that these continuing education credits was intended to be tracked. However, the initial attempts to implement this had fallen by the wayside.

I am not aware of any particular expiration for my certifications. Neither my certificates nor my wallet card mention an expiration date.

You made me check again, now completely, and it is even weirder:

My original statement for me is valid for Certificate & wallet card:
HP OpenVMS v7 CSA;
31-Dec-10 (verbatim)
but:
CSE - HP OpenVMS v7
Awarded on 21 May 2006 ( NO expiration mentoned!)
Upgrade CSE HP OpenVMS v8
Valid until 31 December 2008.

seems I am still for a couple of weeks certified CSA v7,
there is no limit on my CSE v7
and my v8 HAS already expired.

I (and my fellow Dutch VMS certificees) would appreciate any (link to) pertinent info in this matter.

I'm amazed that anyone is still inside the expiry period! I was heavily involved in the certification programme when it was active. It peaked just at the time of the HP takeover, and the release of the CSA and CSE certifications, mid 2002. There was a bit more work at creating an OpenVMS security exam, but it was never completed. The whole program fizzled out by the end of 2004.

So, the exams are at least 8 years old (closer to 10, as we didn't want to include too much of the very latest - at the time -stuff). As far as I know there is no activity to update them or extend the programme, and no one seems interested in doing the exams, or paying any attention to the results. Deceased equine?

Hmm, sounds like classic HP attitude towards OpenVMS.

Good luck in getting answers to your questions. (On the other hand, I don't think anyone looks too closely at expiry dates. Once certified, you don't suddenly lose all that knowledge at the stroke of midnight. I'll continue to claim my certification regardless).

Which seems debatable, as the examination date on my 7.x to 8.2 Migration certificate (on the wallet card named OpenVMS v7 - v8 upgrade certification) is may 19 2007!
