How many vms systems are included in this contract?
And how many systems of other operating systems?
I'm pleased know your opinion :-)

Re: HP Tapped for $290 Million Defense Logistics Agency Contract HP
Although I have seen VMS systems referred to as "COTS" Systems in previous contracts ...
JSTARS

it appears VMS Systems are neither the ones being replaced (two 1960s-era, Cobol mainframe systems) or the ones doing the replacing (SAP
System). See the following references for more info...

I cannot read your link; is it right?
Keith,
by your link it seems vms is not replaced; what do you think about the role of vms in this HP contract?

Re: HP Tapped for $290 Million Defense Logistics Agency Contract HP
Hi Antoniov,
Although I can't rule out that some VMS systems are involved in this contract, it appears from my references that VMS systems do not have any leading role in this contract. This of course says nothing about the role of VMS in the U.S. Military. I am aware of many infrastructure and weapons system which can be in all the U.S. Military branches inwhich VMS has a pivotal role to play.
Here are just a few publicly available references...

SolutionI thought you might still be interested to know that Sue Skonetzki, the manager of the OpenVMS Ambassadors Program, has confirmed that OpenVMS has nothing to with the DLA Contract.
See...
http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=857e9e41.0409261731.749aca68%40posting.google.com
But, as I have already attempted to show, OpenVMS is (and will continue to be) an important operating system for the U.S. and other militaries, and consequently for the defence industry in general.
Cheers!
