HSG80 ema failed disk replacement

I second what Robert has said. I was told to ALWAYS press the button on the HSG80 to idle the bus before removing a disk, and then again before inserting the replacement disk, and that if I did not follow that procedure, I was raising the potential for controller hangs requiring reboots to clear. In the 7 years or so of following this procedure, I have had not one controller hang in all of the EMA storage systems I have managed. So my recommendation: (1) idle the bus, (2) remove the failed disk, (3) idle the bus again, (4) insert the replacement disk.
