How can I configure local DNS?

Until now I don't use local DNS. I want my DNS to serve local network using vms server V7.3-2 and tcp/ip V5.4

Happily I typed @SYS$MANAGER:TCPIP$CONFIG, selected 1 - Core Environment, selected 1 - Domain.
First question: what have I to insert in domain name?
Reading HP documentation it seems I can type any free name e.g. mybusisness.mynet
Is it true?
What does happen later?

I guess this is merely the first question.

Re: How can I configure local DNS?

If its a local dns server then pick a reasonable name companyname.com or
companyname.co.it

you then go to server and client parts of the config menu's and enable.

Re: How can I configure local DNS?

Ian,
thank for your quick reply.
I use mycompany.mynet in domain and after enable the name server it doesn't work.
I read SYS$SPECIFIC:[TCPIP$BIND]TCPIP$BIND_RUN.LOG to understand what it happens.
I copy TCPIP$BIND_CONF.TEMPLATE to TCPIP$BIND.CONF and study what does mean lines inside.
