Re: How to switch to SDA mode in open VMS

Dear Robert
I have two nodes cluster with 4 X BA356 storage shelves. Currently I am getting error in a external disk of a storage.Although I replaced disk two times, still error are generating in same disk. So I want to further diagnose the disk . That is why I want dklog.

Nirukshitha,

check if the disk drive is logging errors. SHOW ERROR should show a non-zero error count for the disk and/or the PK port.

You should first analyse the error log. To do this, you will need either ANAL/ERR, DECevent or WEBES/SEA - depending on the type of system and OpenVMS version.

For analyzing SCSI related errors, DECevent V3.4 ($ DIAGNOSE command) is still the best tool around. You can download it from:

The SDA DKLOG extension is mostly for diagnosing complex problems with the SCSI IO software subsystem.
