I need help setting up a vax (VMS V7.1) to a network

I do have ftp on the vax but I im very much in the dark and can't find a person in the ST. Louis MO area to help. Any Ideas?

what sort of tcpip software do you have on this VAX?

You could start investigation typing
$ UCX SHO SERVICE FTP

If that command fails, you can see if you have multinet by typing:

$ multinet show/version

If you have multinet for TCP/IP stack this will return the version information.

in case you do have UCX, the easiest way to configure the box is to execute

@sys$manager:ucx$config.com

which opens a menu with various options for you. The basic setup is done with 1 Core environment.

You do need IP address, subnet mask etc. to complete this task. What else you want to configure really depends on your local setup.
