IPsec documentation

The E8.4 fieldtest kit does now include IPsec with TCP/IP Services.

However, there is no documentation yet.

Does anyone have a pointer to documentation about how to configure and use IPsec?

Thanks,

Bart

Ah, but that would be telling wouldn't it?

Clearly if you were from the same Cosa Vostre job preservation scheme that gave us gSOAP then there'd be 15 slides at the tech upfate days all sponsored by excess capacity with nothin' better to do. Wheras her you are asking for Industry Standard network infrastructure that everyone else has had for over a decade (and VMS itself has had for over 5 years) and you're met with Mat Muggeridge burning books and smashing CDs.

Just how many sand-bags can you carry Matt???

Somethings never change I guess :-(

Re: IPsec documentation

The TCP/IP Services 5.7 release notes contains the following information about the IPsec implementation in it:

3.1 IP Security

The IP Security (IPSec) feature that is included with this
kit is not currently supported. HP recommends that you must
not use IPSec in a production environment.

Re: IPsec documentation

To Richard Maher:

Yes, I guess that is telling...
But I know next to nothing about IPsec and I would like to learn.

To Richard Whalen:

Don't worry, my Personal Alpha is not production grade!

Re: IPsec documentation

There is some for the EAK version at

http://h71000.www7.hp.com/openvms/products/ipsec/ipsec_doc.html

I'm told the version in the FT kit is improved on the EAK version but is not complete.

Re: IPsec documentation

Hi Bart,

Unlike myself, Richard W is also bound by decorum.

Process Software's Multinet product (don't know about TCPWare?) has supported IPsec on VMS for many years - Well done!

Even if it doesn't convince you to go with competent people who support their TCP/IP stack then at least their documentation will give you an idea. (And then there's Windows and *nix and Android and everyone else. . .)

Re: IPsec documentation

TCPware does not have IPsec.

Re: IPsec documentation

Thanks all or your reactions.

The EAK document looks like a good start.
