ITRC patch search broken ?

Hi

I want to find the latest patch for Itanium VMS 8.3-1H1.

I go to
http://www13.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/search.do

and I "search by keyword" for "FIBRE"
Results:
Fibre-Scsi V600, V100 and V400 (in this order)

Then I search with
"Browse Patch list"
and the first 2 that appear on the first of the 5 pages of results are
Fibre-Scsi V700 and V600

I wonder if this is new, or if ITRC has been broken for long ?

Give us back the old australian site ! It was reliable, possible to search with many different criteria, ergonomic...

Re: ITRC patch search broken ?

If I look at the master Eco List

http://www13.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/patchDetail.do?patchid=I64_V831H1I_MASTER_ECO_LIST&sel={openvms:i64:8.3-1h1,}&BC=main|search|

I see, among others things

ECO KITS NOT INCLUDED IN UPDATE KIT: RELEASE DATE COMMENTS
------------------------------------ ------------ --------------------
VMS831H1I_SYS_MUP-V1300 14-DEC-2010
VMS831H1I_ICAP-V0400 05-DEC-2010
VMS831H1I_DEBUG-V0300 30-NOV-2010
VMS831H1I_FIBRE_SCSI-V0800 19-NOV-2010
VMS831H1I_DDTM-V0200 10-NOV-2010
VMS831H1I_ACMELDAP-V0200 15-JUN-2010
VMS831H1I_LOGIN-V0100 22-JUL-2009
VMS831H1I_ICXXL-V0200 24-NOV-2008
VMS831H1I_PCSI-V0200 07-SEP-2010

So Fibre-Scsi-V8 should be available since the 19th of November.

Re: ITRC patch search broken ?

Well, if I browse the patch list, the last Fibre-Scsi patch is the V8...

Strange logic, to put the most recent patch the latest to appear...

Re: ITRC patch search broken ?

Fetching the master index from the FTP site for any specific version and platform combination is the definitive accurate source of information for the latest list of patches. As long as the FTP site is available I'd pull my patches, using the master list, from there. Wading through the folder hierarchy to find patches is time consuming but, in my opinion, more accurate and reliable.

And if you already have mapped out the folders you can fairly easily build a set of procedures using TCPIP Services FTP to pull the patches in bulk at night and then compare for newest at your leisure.

Re: ITRC patch search broken ?

If you search by patchid and the word fibre, you only get VMS831H1I_FIBRE_SCSI-V0800.

Not sure why HP doesn't just buy some Google appliances and fix their search lameness.

Cheers,

Re: ITRC patch search broken ?

Bob, your comments imply that you have FTP access to the OpenVMS patches. How is that possible? (We have support agreements but since September we can only use the ITRC web site to access patches, AFAIK.)

Thanks,

Re: ITRC patch search broken ?

No, Jeremy, unfortunately I'm like many and have lost FTP access to patches because I no longer have internal or contract-based access. However I'm very familiar with the folder structure and practices used to populate the patches and the master indexes because I had been maintaining HP's patch analysis solution, Propatch, and had worked with those generating patches from Engineering before it was converted to another solution.
