Incorrect Sent time on mail sent from OpenVMS mail to Outlook

I have been using OpenVMS mail to send system notification to users for some time now. Setup on our VMS system was completed by someone else in our department. Only persistent problem we have noted is that the "Sent:" time displayed within Outlook when the message is opened is 2 hours ahead of the time the message is received. Obviously some parameter/logical/other within TCPIP or some other system area is using a delta value to increment the time. As far as I know, we have no other time issues.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Check the timezone settings. See

Re: Incorrect Sent time on mail sent from OpenVMS mail to Outlook

I am in the Detroit, Michigan area, so these values LOOKED OK to me (other than the fact that the daylight savings time logical is not set...)

"SYS$LOCALTIME" = "SYS$SYSROOT:[SYS$ZONEINFO.SYSTEM.US]EASTERN."
"SYS$TIMEZONE_DAYLIGHT_SAVING" = "0"
"SYS$TIMEZONE_DIFFERENTIAL" = "-18000"
"SYS$TIMEZONE_NAME" = "EST"
"SYS$TIMEZONE_RULE" = "EST5EDT4,M4.1.0/2,M10.5.0/2"

Other things I should be looking at beyond these settings?

Your system is on Eastern Standard Time, Detroit is on Eastern Daylight time. Use @sys$manager:utc$time_setup.com.

Make sure to answer "Is this time zone currently on daylight saving time" with "yes," this question does not refer to the system time.

True, but would this cause a TWO hour difference in the time sent?

Randy,

Depending on the time zone your system thinks it's in, and the time zone the target system thinks it's in, yes you could have a 2 hour disrepancy.

Please verify that your system is defined to be in the correct time zone, and your clock is set correctly.
