Installation of DECEvent

Installation of DECEvent

I have downloaded DECEvent for Alpha, ftp'd the four .exe files to the Alpha 4100. I have unzipped the four exe files to four files DIAAO34.A, DIAAO34.B, DIAAO34.C and DIAAO34.D

The install directions say to run sys$update:vmsinstal "KIT NAME" system disk I have tried DECEVENT, DIA, and DIAAO34. All produced a message %VMSINSTAL-E-NOPRODS, None of the specified products were found. What is the secret?

Re: Installation of DECEvent

Hello Doug,

if I read your text correctly you have the letter O in the product name. This should be the digit zero 0. Did you try DIA034?

Re: Installation of DECEvent

You should have 4 save-sets, you should be able to do, without an error message

$ bac/lis dia034.a/sav
and the same with the 3 other files.

Can you post a
$ dir/fu dia034.*

regards

Re: Installation of DECEvent

Hi,

a very interesting alternative to DECevent (you need for DECevent a yearly license update) is WEBES. It has got a very nice web interface and nicly fits into a centralized concept for your systems.

Here is the link:

Re: Installation of DECEvent

webes is even slower than DECevent but is required for certain recent models of Alpha. I'm told it's faster to copy error log files to a pc and run webes on the pc for error log analysis. webes was created on a windows system then ported to vms and unix.

Note the system on which you install DECevent or webes should be covered by a service obligation of some kind (warrenty, contract).
