LSE and CMS generations

Is there a way to make LSE fetch a specific generation into the buffer? I know it will work using the CMS fetch command, but that doesn't bring the file into the buffer.

There doesn't seem to be an option in the goto file command.

Re: LSE and CMS generations

My experience with CMS is quite some years old, but the LSE commands to interact with CMS are FETCH and RESERVE.

Re: LSE and CMS generations

Shael,

LSE Command> help cms

CMS

Invokes VAX DEC/Code Management System (CMS) to enable any valid
CMS command to execute from within LSE.

Format

CMS [cms-command]

Re: LSE and CMS generations

Sorry about missing the point.

LSE Command> help features cms
...
when LSE must access a file from the directory that is the user's CMS library, LSE will automatically use CMS to FETCH the file.
...

So the secret is to specify CMS$LIB: as the directory from which to open the file.

Re: LSE and CMS generations

Once again: sorry.

The appropriate command is SET CMS/GENERATION before issuing the GOTO FILE CMS$LIB:filename command.

(seems it's been a while since I last used LSE...)

Re: LSE and CMS generations

That worked thanks. After you said it I sort of remembered it. I had checked all my VMSmail DSNLink replies thinking I had asked this before.

Need a search utility for mail!
