Logging externally

I am trying to integrate OpenVMS logging with a Network Intelligence log collection device.

Does anyone know how I can achieve this? It would be similar to exporting syslog messages on a *nix system.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Logging externally

May be the port of syslogd is what you look for ?

Re: Logging externally

Thanks. I am working with a highly sensitive production environment and I think the system owner would prefer not to install new components if it can be avoided.

Is there anything native that can achieve this?

Re: Logging externally

Julian,

OpenVMS itself can write SECURITY alarm messages onto Operator terminals. This data could be captured.

It also write a security audit logfile and has the ability to send the audit messages to a mailbox, to allow them to be read and processed by a (user-supplied) dedicated program.

There may be third-party solutions in this area. Search for 'syslog' in ITRC to find previous discussions about this subject.
