Lost password

Gents, i am looking for a link to this FAQ i read so much about, that will tell me how to reset a system that i have no login or password for. I have looked for this faq and can't locate one for 6.x version i have. I want to learn more about this os and the commands but this help site is not very helpful. I am not asking for you to type out my solution for the reset but i am asking for you to atleast post the faq link that some of you refer to.

You assume too much.

I don't wish to sound radical, but did you
try anything like a Google search for
keywords like, say,
vms faq
? That worked pretty well for me.

You may not find one specific for that
(vague) version, but most of the features are
not particularly version-dependent.

write sys$output f$getsyi( "version")

> [...] i am asking for you to atleast [...]

And you don't expect yourself to try any
basic things first?

Re: Lost password

VMSN00B,

The "lost system password" procedure remains unchanged for many, many years.

Re: Lost password

Steven,

Yes i did do a search and it was giving me newer versions of faq's. Like i figured some smart #$% would type what you did. Your energy would have been better greeted with a link and not the useless post. Thanks anyway. The gentlemen above you did very excellent in helping me solve this issue and i have it all done thanks to them. They are definately some nice guys you should take example from. =)

And you might better explain exactly what you
have done, and why you weren't satisfied with
those results, instead of asking what looked
like a very foolish (or lazy) and vague
question.

Just a thought.

Re: Lost password

What i had done or not done is irrelevant. I asked for a link to a page plain and simple. This site is for asking questions is it not? I didn't read where it says this is how to use google class. See the fundementals of helping someone like the 2 posts above yours. Sorry that is to complex for you and you insist in being a forum professor with a bad attitude. Anyway, your not worth wasting anymore of my time. Go lecture up someone elses questions with your drivel instead of being helpful. I know you just can't resist to reply... I won't be back so have fun! =P
