MMS$TARGET_NAME

Dear VMS Users,

May I know what MMS$TARGET_NAME is? Is it a symbol used by MMS? Could you give me a small example?

Thanks,

YE LIU

Re: MMS$TARGET_NAME

MMS$TARGET_NAME is a Macro that expands to whatever the current file being build is.

You would generally use it when writing a custom rule. I think $@ is the 'make' equivalent.

Re: MMS$TARGET_NAME

MMS$TARGET_NAME is only the file name - excluding the file type - of the target being updated. This is also known as $*

$@ is equivalent to MMS$TARGET, which includes the file type.

HELP MMS Description_File Special-Macros

The VMS builders for Info-ZIP Zip and UnZip
use it, if that counts as "a small example".
