Microsoft Sound Board port,irq,dma

Hello,
may I ask about some fun things?
I've got Microsoft Sound board based on AD1848KP
explored inet and cant find what port, irq, dma should I use. Now it is pluged into Linux box to explore the parameters. Without any success for a while.
Does anybody knows about it port, irq, dma ?

You are more likely to get an answer if you post your question under Linux, than OpenVMS.

Re: Microsoft Sound Board port,irq,dma

Yes, of course :) I've done it already.
But I said about Linux additionally. VMS guru may not look to this part of message :)

I do know MSB should work under OpenVMS and I wait answers from happy owners of AS255...AS600
or (best) Jensen owners with such or similiar sound card.

Re: Microsoft Sound Board port,irq,dma

Which is an ISA card. I use it on a Jensen, VMS V7.3. Configured it with ECU. My card is in slot 2, with all the default settings, for example IRQ is 7.

If the SRM has isacfg, you should be able to configure and see the device.

On the Jensen the device does not show in the SRM nor in a CLUE CONFIG from SDA. But it is available and can be used. Here you have to manually connect the driver.

Re: Microsoft Sound Board port,irq,dma

Thank you very much you give me a wizdom.

The card is AD1848KP soundport 9332 B132081
Unfortunately, I've changed default parameters in ECU, so I do not remember what about DMA.

I just look to your output and see my error:
I do not have id="isa2000" in the config data file.
Please, can you give me a something like instruction how to install multimedia service and device?
It seems, I don not do some steps (I see mmov_add_device.com that I do not execute and so on) because I cant find detailed installation instruction for MMOV.

Re: Microsoft Sound Board port,irq,dma

Another thing - I have switches in the card without any description. I suppose they are may be wrong. Have your card switches? May you describe anyhow how are they set up?

"MMOV_ADD_DEVICE.COM" seems to be fictional.
MMOV$PCSI_INSTALL_V7.COM seems to have the
code (which _says_ "MMOV_ADD_DEVICE.COM") to
add these things to
"sys$sysdevice:[vms$common.sysexe]SYS$USER_CONFIG.DAT".

It's been a long time, but I assume that
installing the product will add these things
to SYS$USER_CONFIG.DAT.

I see MMOV-V2_2.RELEASE_NOTES in my kit, but
nothing like an installation guide.

Re: Microsoft Sound Board port,irq,dma

Thank you very much!
I've got it running. Started mpg123 and found it fairly usable also on the 21064CPU at speed 150MHz.

What had been done:
1. Plug MSB into a a box
2. Start ECU, choose default settings for a ISA2000 board. Port is 530h, irq 7, dma 1 and 0. Save.
3. Boot OpenVMS.
4. Commands:
$mc sysman io conn aua0: /driver=MMOV$MSBDRIVER -
/vector=28 /node=2 /adapter=2 /csr=81445280
$sys$startup:mmov$startup

Device is up!

Re: Microsoft Sound Board port,irq,dma

Alex,

from your Forum Profile:

I have assigned points to 0 of 93 responses to my questions.

Maybe you can find some time to do some assigning?

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/helptips.do?#33

Mind, I do NOT say you necessarily need to give lots of points. It is fully up to _YOU_ to decide how many. If you consider an answer is not deserving any points, you can also assign 0 ( = zero ) points, and then that answer will no longer be counted as unassigned.
Consider, that every poster took at least the trouble of posting for you!

To easily find your streams with unassigned points, click your own name somewhere.
This will bring up your profile.
Near the bottom of that page, under the caption "My Question(s)" you will find "questions or topics with unassigned points " Clicking that will give all, and only, your questions that still have unassigned postings.
If you have closed some of those streams, you must "Reopen" them to "Submit points". (After which you can "Close" again)

Do not forget to explicitly activate "Submit points", or your effort gets lost again!!

Thanks on behalf of your Forum colleagues.

PS. - nothing personal in this. I try to post it to everyone with this kind of assignment ratio in this forum. If you have received a posting like this before - please do not take offence - none is intended!

PPS. - Zero points for this.

Proost.

Have one on me.

Re: Microsoft Sound Board port,irq,dma

Ok I'm sorry. It has been gone outside of my eyes. I just search my topics and make assignments.
