NML$SERVER

In a site where DECnet over IP is the norm, does anyone out there see a need for NML$SERVER in SYSUAF?

Re: NML$SERVER

Manny,

The NML object is the Network Management Listener for Phase IV DECnet. If you're running Phase V (which you must be if you're using DECnet over IP), then the NML$SERVER account is unnecessary.

The equivalent Phase V object is called CML and, by default, will use username CML$SERVER.

For security it makes sense to remove any UAF entries that are not going to be used, but I recommend you leave the NML$SERVER identifier in RIGHTSLIST, so it never gets reused:

UAF> REMOVE/NOREMOVE NML$SERVER

I kinda like the REMOVE/NOREMOVE syntax. :)
