NTP Works Fine,But I cannot see it in PS NTP
The NTP works fine on Open VMS7.3-2,But I cannot see it while I do a PS NTP on one node.I have a 4 node system and it works well in all four & also PS NTP shows in all three except the fourth.
I have checked the permissions,Secuirity, owner etc.
Working Node:

Re: NTP Works Fine,But I cannot see it in PS NTP
1. Compare the contents ($ diff) of the failing node with one of the working nodes for file TCPIP$NTP.CONF
2. examine sys$specific:[tcpip$ntp]tcpip$ntp_run.log; for any clues as to why it failed (does the file even exist ? what about previous versions - are there any ? any errors ?)
3. I assume you're using a common uaf or there's nothing different about uaf tcpip$ntp account.
4. from the system managers account you can restart NTP on the failed node by issuing @sys$startup:tcpip$ntp_startup but I'd suggest looking for reasons as to why it's not running 1st.
Kind Regards
John.

Re: NTP Works Fine,But I cannot see it in PS NTP
For question 1
I actually FTPed the file from working node to the other, NTP itself works fine, But I just cannot view it using PS NTP.
How ever I can see it in show system /net
NTP itself is working on all the nodes.
Question 2
I do not see a *ntp*run*.log file in sys$specific:[tcpip$ntp]
Question 3
UAF is not shared, But there is nothing
different
Showing node
TCPIP$NTP TCPIP$NTP [3655,7] TCPIP Normal 8 SYS$SPECIFIC:[TCPIP$NTP]
in non-showing node
TCPIP$NTP TCPIP$NTP [3655,6] TCPIP Normal 8 SYS$SPECIFIC:[TCPIP$NTP]
question 4
I have already done that.
Again NTP works fine on the non-showing node as well, its inconvinient that its just not showing
Best Regards
Prem.

Re: NTP Works Fine,But I cannot see it in PS NTP
There are no errors in *ntp*run*.log files, Please see below NTP is running but in one
node it is TCPIP$NTP_1 and on the other it is TCPIP$NT_BG2918
thats why its not appearing on PS NTP
PS == "PIPE SHO SYS /CLUSTER | SEARCH SYS$INPUT NODE,"

Re: NTP Works Fine,But I cannot see it in PS NTP
SHOW SYMBOL PS (everywhere)
I _assume_ that "ps" is defined to use a
command procedure to do something like:
SHOW SYSTEM /PROCESS = *'p1'*
but if "ps.com" (or whatever) is missing the
asterisks on one system, that could explain a
lot.

Re: NTP Works Fine,But I cannot see it in PS NTP
alp $ PS == "PIPE SHO SYS /CLUSTER | SEARCH SYS$INPUT NODE,"
alp $ ps ntp
OpenVMS V7.3-2 on node ALP 14-APR-2007 05:56:28.13 Uptime 19 20:34:11
20200235 TCPIP$NTP_1 LEF 10 1720820 0 00:00:15.41 302 301 N
202002DA my_name_is_node LEF 4 923782 0 00:05:58.19 215970 145
Slightly better would be something like:
PS == "PIPE SHO SYS /CLUSTER | SEARCH SYS$INPUT "" on node "","
alp $ ps ntp
OpenVMS V7.3-2 on node ALP 14-APR-2007 05:57:42.45 Uptime 19 20:35:26
20200235 TCPIP$NTP_1 LEF 10 1720894 0 00:00:15.41 302 301 N
But that's still subject to error:
alp $ ps ntp
OpenVMS V7.3-2 on node ALP 14-APR-2007 05:58:51.84 Uptime 19 20:36:35
20200235 TCPIP$NTP_1 LEF 9 1720964 0 00:00:15.41 302 301 N
202002DA x on node y LEF 9 923833 0 00:05:58.21 216052 140
