I completely disagree! I've been here for awhile and a high percentage of issues usually come to some sort of successful conclusion - at least in the VMS forum they do. I can appreciate your desire to be recognized and rewarded, most people want that kind of thing, but I've also found that if you really help somebody, the "points" you get back come in the form of a thanks reply. Those are the ones you want to be striving for.

Of course it doesn't always happen, but that's people, whether it's on the street or in a forum.

Take it easy, we're all on the VMS side here ;-)

I think this reflects what's going on in our society in general. Personally, I could do w/o the points/hats, but we seem to "need" these pats on the head more today than in times past.

Got kids? How about when they get involved in sports. Seems like EVERYONE gets a trophy (aka points) regardless. 10 and 0 record - trophy. 0 and 10 - trophy. Used to not be that way. Is it better today?

In sports, I don't think anyone should get a trophy. After all, it's only a dumb sports game.

Let's try a little social experiment with this forum. Let's eliminate the points completely and see how many people still answer questions about VMS?

I think you're right, though, political correctness has gone too far in this country. I guess it's taken us (i.e., U.S.) a little over 200 years to forget that socialism and communism doesn't work!

If _ANYONE_ in this forum does do without "political correctness", then it _IS_ mr SMS aka Steven Schweda.

And although I personally prefer to put things in milder words, most (all?) of the times I think he _DOES_ see things rather sharp and correct.

I personnally usually reserve bluntness towards people I know well enough that they: a. prefer the hard truth out in the open or b. they have more than once demonstrated that the cannot accept a technically correct answer because it in not on the same rails as there political desire.

Furthermore, quoting Hein, I do not attibute to malice to what can be simple ingorance and uncompetence, until proven otherwise.

And let's be glad that there do exist different styles. Without them the world would be SO dull!!

Finallt, I do have to line up for the point we all agree on: VMS _IS_ (by far) the best OS in existance.

Fine with me, but that would run the risk of
spawning threads involving juvenile
complaints about missing points assignments,
