OPENVMS - PCL PRINTING TO HPLASERJET 4200

On an OpenVMS Alpha system I am printing to a Lexmark Optra L using PCL 5 emulation. I am trying to do the same to a HP LaserJet 4200 and it appears it does NOT like the control characters that are being sent.
Does the 4200 support PCL 5??? The setup page I printed out, only shows PCLXL as an "Installed Personalities and Options".

What I find at the Lexmark site doesn't say what it does PCL-wise, which doesn't surprise me. (Although I'm prejudiced against Lexmar

What print processor have you declared on the queue? That can make a huge difference...

If you use Dcps 2.3 as your symbiont, it seems to me that the Lexmark Optra L is not supported. Various Optra are supported, but not this one, see

You may try the telnetsym symbiont, or LPD, or DCPS 2.3 with the new LPD queue.

What are your Vms and Ucx/Tcpip versions ?
What is your symbiont ?

I am running OPENVMS 7.3 with MULTINET V4.4 Rev A-X. My symbiont is MULTINET_STREAM_SYMBIONT which means I am using a Stram Print Queue.
This works fine for a Lexmark printer and also other models of HP printers.
