OPERATOR.LOG NO FTP LOGIN LOGOUT MESSAGES

When upgrade os from 7.2-1 to 7.2-2 and tcpip
5.0 to 5.1a and eco4 ,
operator.log no messages like below:
INTERnet ACP Process creation success
INTERnet ACP FTP Accept Request from Host:
INTERnet ACP Timeout Idle FTP Server
Before upgrade os and tcpip, had these messages,And I had checked ftp service, /log_options=all.

Re: OPERATOR.LOG NO FTP LOGIN LOGOUT MESSAGES

Hello,

have you checked that your OPCOM process is running correctly? If not you will not see any messages (and yes, OPCOM can die if you throw enough stuff at it).

Else, please do a show service ftp/full and post the output here.

Re: OPERATOR.LOG NO FTP LOGIN LOGOUT MESSAGES

Public,
I would suggest that you look at the following

1. As Martin suggested look if your OPCOM
is running properly.
To do this, just login and do a
REPLY/ENABLE (and watch the screen for
a while and see if any messages are
appearing)

2. Also check to see if you have turned on
AUDIT on network

Re: OPERATOR.LOG NO FTP LOGIN LOGOUT MESSAGES

Public,
I think that is not what we were looking for. I will give you the commands below, please run that and post the output

1. Check to see if OPCOM is running

System Prompt:/>show sys/proc=*OPCOM*

2. Check what are the auditable events
System Prompt:/>show audit

Re: OPERATOR.LOG NO FTP LOGIN LOGOUT MESSAGES

Hello Public,

the definition of the FTP service does look ok, it does match what I would expect to see. The next step really is checking if the Opcom process is running. Detailed instructions how to do this have been given in previous posts.

Re: OPERATOR.LOG NO FTP LOGIN LOGOUT MESSAGES

Hello,

thanks for coming back with the information. Now the last test is to do a reply/enable from an interactive session with suitable privs, initiate an FTP connection and see if you do get a message on the screen.

Actually looking around in assorted operator log files and reading the documentation I did not find the messages you report on our systems either. It might be possible the operator messages were replaced by individual log files. Have a look at SYS$SYSDEVICE:[TCPIP$FTP]TCPIP$FTP_RUN.LOG

This hopefully should contain the information you are after.

Can somebody else please confirm this on their systems?

Re: OPERATOR.LOG NO FTP LOGIN LOGOUT MESSAGES

After my test and checked:
1 After upgrade to os and tcpip,
ftp daemon always exist,So I test ftp ,The log always not produce on operator.log(But tcpip$ftp_run log have),When
I stop process , It spawn other ftp daemon.
Again stop process , Even force ftp service
disable. Need enable ftp service.

2 Before upgrade os and tcpip, The ftp daemon will produce on first time ftp running.
It will log on operator.log at that time.
If ftp daemon exist. It will no log on operator.log,And ftp daemon will disappear
after some time.
I think it is TCPIP 5.1a normal status.
