Okay, I give up...OpenVMS layered product information anyone?

I know HP Support Centre is supposed to hinder rather than help, but I've given up, having had several ignored or unuseful emails and assistance from Bangalore's finest at the un-help desk...

Can someone pretty please point me in the direction of the OpenVMS layered product information? Versions, compatibility with OS levels, patches etc. You know, the stuff that used be available readily. Specifically TCP/IP, DECForms, DCPS, DECNet.

Thanks.

PJ.

You can try at the Software Products Libarary home page  http://h30266.www3.hp.com/

Particuarly at the "Additional/Associated SPD" page  http://h30266.www3.hp.com/AddSPDs.shtml

Might be help at the "Online Documenatation Library" page, too.  http://h30266.www3.hp.com/ODLIndex.asp

Re: Okay, I give up...OpenVMS layered product information anyone?

That's useful stuff, Volker, and answers some of my questions, but not all.

For example, TCP/IP is listed as V5.7 - BUT I am using V5.7-13ECO2.

a) Is this the latest version, and

b) where do I download it from?

Hi John,

The first of your links seems to list the contents of CDs (was Feb 2012 really the last one?) but not contain software.

The SPDs and documentation are useful, but they are not patches or downloads of binaries...

Still searching...

Re: Okay, I give up...OpenVMS layered product information anyone?

PJ,

access to OpenVMS patches is only possible for customers having an appropriate OpenVMS software contract with HP. There is no free download anymore, as there was before October 2010. OpenVMS hobbyists get access to some consolidated patches.

TCPIP V5.7 ECO 4 ist the current TCPIP V5.7 patch kit, released 19-OCT-2012.

Re: Okay, I give up...OpenVMS layered product information anyone?

Volker,

I am a fully paid up customer, we pay a huge amount of money for software maintenance and the right to new versions. I have support agreements coming out of every bodily orifice.

How do YOU know that TCPIP V5.7 ECO 4 is the current TCPIP V5.7 patch kit, released 19-OCT-2012? Where is this information kept, or do you have to be initiated into some sort of funny handshake club?

Re: Okay, I give up...OpenVMS layered product information anyone?

PJ,

you need to download OpenVMS patches from HPSC (HP Support Center) http://www.hp.com/go/hpsc

You need to associate your contracts (via the SAIDs) to your profile and then you should get access to the patches. I keep getting announcements via mail about new OpenVMS patches and I keep that information.

Re: Okay, I give up...OpenVMS layered product information anyone?

Works perfectly right up to the point where I get a message saying "Downloads for this product are not available through this website."

I seem to be going around in circles...

Re: Okay, I give up...OpenVMS layered product information anyone?

PJ,

as a test, I just tried downloading TCPIP V5.7 ECO 4 (for OpenVMS Alpha) from HPSC via Download Options -> Patch Management -> Find Individual Patches -> OpenVMS. It works for me. Which product/patch did you try to download ?

If you have an OpenVMS software contract and if HPSC fails for you, just open a call with HP and ask them to provide the desired patches and look at your problem using HPSC.
