Re: OpenVMS Hobbyist License

Sumant,

please be patient. This is a 'hobbyist site' for non-commercial use, so give them a couple of days.

This information is from the DECUServe.org site:

DECUServe transmits membership information to the Hobbyist Program twice
weekly, if you have recently registered on DECUServe please allow time for
transfer and processing into the Hobbyist database.

Re: OpenVMS Hobbyist License

Sumant,

the SSH login problem (to accounts without a password) at DECUServe.org has now been fixed. You'll just need to press when SSH asks for a password...

Re: OpenVMS Hobbyist License

Just to reinterate - the Hobbyist licenses are for personal non-commercial use only, typically where someone has a VMS machine at home for their own interest and amusement (or indeed frustration).

If you're using this for software development / testing / training / whatever for or on behalf of a commercial organisation, the DSPP licenses are the best way to achieve that. You get those by signing up at http://www.hp.com/go/dspp and then (once your DSPP membership is confirmed) obtain the license PAKs by downloading them from the relevant part of the DSPP web site.

Re: OpenVMS Hobbyist License

Hi Volker Halle,

I have another problem.

I have registered in decuserve.org
and got the membership number.

Then I input the data into http://www.openvmshobbyist.com/licenses.php , press continue, I get nothing at last. No error message, no mail about license, what's happen? Can you help me?

Re: OpenVMS Hobbyist License

Jack - you should ask questions about the Hobbyist programme on the Hobbyist site
http://www.openvmshobbyist.org/forum/index.php

as that is where the people who can fix the problem are to be found

Re: OpenVMS Hobbyist License

It seems that OpenVMS Hobbyists can no longer download patches without first getting a service contract. Can someone at HP address this issue?

Re: OpenVMS Hobbyist License

Larry,

You are correct. That change was discussed at length and the cut-off was in September or October. There was no indication of any changes in teh wind for the hobbiest. Access to patches requires a service contract of some sort. Shoot me an Email for more details.
