OpenVMS disk shadowing manual

I need a quick and detailed explanation of disk shadowing. Does anyone know where I can get a .pdf file on this topic?

Please note that the HBMM documentation is not in either of the above books; you'll need to find it in a V7.3-2 HBMM patch kit. It may be in other places; it hasn't made it into the standard doc set yet.

I concur with Rob Brooks on the appropriate citation for the documentation set.

the HBMM documentation (Host Based Mini Merge) can currently only be found in the HP OpenVMS Version 8.2 New Features and Documentation Overview manual:

HBMM documentation is also available in VMS732_HBMM-V0200.PCSI-DCX_AXPEXE downloadable from the patch ftp site.

run that on an alpha, it will produce DEC-AXPVMS-VMS732_HBMM-V0200--4.PCSI, then use

$ product extract file vms732_hbmm /select=[SYSHLP]VS_HBMM_VMS732-V0100.PDF

and it will extract the PDF file you default directory.

I am not sure how different it is from the documentation Volker referenced.

Ummm. This is a "Product Description File", the content of which tells PCSI what to do with the files in the kit. It is NOT a "Portable Document File" readable on a PC with Adobe Acrobat... Type the file and you will see what I mean.

What you're thinking of, the kit's PDF file, has the extension .PCSI$DESCRIPTION in the kit.
