Re: Oracle on VMS

Stupid remark but don't assign 8 or more before you have a real solution. So Hein should get 10 and all others less than 8.

It makes live simple for people searching for a question with a real solution. Just search for 8+ answers.

Re: Oracle on VMS

I'd like to point out htat the latest Oracle is VMS cluster aware, Oracle 9i.

That is invaluable to know.

Re: Oracle on VMS

Comarow,

Is 10g not cluster aware ? Did they remove it again in 10g ?

Re: Oracle on VMS

I doubt they would take it away, but then I don't work for Oracle.

9i took a lot of VMS cluster code to make it work. and it works great in a VMS environment, but I have heard of rumors of problems in other environments.

Re: Oracle on VMS

Both 9i and 10gR1 for VMS have RAC (Oracle clustering) support. I just got all 4gig of the 10g save sets downloaded to my AS1200 cluster so hopefully before too long I can see how well it works.

I noticed that while the OTN page says 10g was available on 8-Jun-2005, the backup save sets are dated (internally - check the log output) for 13-Jun-2005. Must be some sort of time-warp that Oracle has. ;-)
