I need to upgrade UCX to TCPIP on a DS10 on which the CD-ROM drive is giving errors. Ok, I thought, I will mount the CD in another machine and transfer the kit. However, the kit is named DEC-AXPVMS-TCPIP-V0505-11-1.PCSI$COMPRESSED and Polycenter does not recognise this:
$ dir
Directory SYS$SYSDEVICE:[xxx.KIT]
DEC-AXPVMS-TCPIP-V0505-11-1.PCSI$COMPRESSED;1
$ product list *
%PCSIUI-I-NOMATCH, no products were found matching: *
%PCSIUI-E-NOPROD, no products were found on which to perform this operation
%PCSIUI-E-ABORT, operation terminated due to an unrecoverable error condition
$ help product list
PRODUCT
LIST
Lists the names of the files contained in a sequentially formatted software product kit. A file type of .PCSI denotes a sequential kit.
I can't find .PCSI$COMPRESSED described in the System Manager's manual - so how do I get a .PCSI from this file?

Solution
Barry,
the support for compressed PCSI kits was introduced only some version of VMS ago (I think V7.3-2 with an PCSI Eco kit). What is your VMS version?
On a newer system you may copy the kit into uncompressed format using
$ PRODUCT COPY kit /FORM=SEQUEN/DEST=...
(See HELP PRODUCT COPY)
regards Kalle

Re: PCSI$COMPRESSED
Thanks, Kalle!
VMS version is 7.2-1, and I can't upgrade it yet -- but I needed TCPIP in order to do UDP multicast (not supported in UCX).
I got the TCPIP v5.4 kit off the CD as a .PCSI file, so I'm installing that.
