Printer Queues Stalled. Shutdown takes 15 minutes.

Hi, when I have a stalled printer queues in my system, the shutdown takes 15 minutes to halt the system.... but If I perform a stop/reset in stalled queues, the shutdown continue quickly...

Anyone knows any parameter/config to slowdown this timeout?

Thanks in advance.

Ok, so your symbiont is Latsym.

Can you post
$ mc latcp sh node

?

Re: Printer Queues Stalled. Shutdown takes 15 minutes.

Shutdown does a stop/que/on_node (do help stop/que/on). This is a proper shutdown and so oit want to fail over correctly (requeue etc). With stalled queues this is difficult it seems and thus you get delayed.

Just do the stop/que/reset for stalled queues yourself.

Re: Printer Queues Stalled. Shutdown takes 15 minutes.

You can also try to shut LAT first before the q is stopped.

Re: Printer Queues Stalled. Shutdown takes 15 minutes.

How is the remote terminal server port set up, and do you know why the queue going into the stalled state? (Network connectivity issues can cause all manner of problems.)

LATCP shows the host settings and mostly stuff for connections arriving at the OpenVMS host via LAT; stuff which aren't really used here with your queue definition for device NODO::LTA1319:. It's the terminal server that has the settings that are interesting.

Post up what is in LAT$SYSTARTUP.COM (or where ever else it might have been been kept) for this LT device (the mapping from LTA1319: to a terminal server port), and the settings on the associated terminal server port.

Also poke around for ECOs for LAT for OpenVMS Alpha V8.2, as there have been the occasional fixes. Either LAT or UPDATE kits, and possibly networking and queue-related and symbiont and printing-related kits.
