SFTP help needed

Hello, i am setting up SFTP using TCPIP 5.4 ECO4. I have learned that SFTP transfer is restricted to files with stream_lf and fixed 512 record format. The people who will put files are using IBM mainframes, Windows, and Unix boxes. How do i ask them to create their files as stream_lf and fixed 512 record format. Will stream_lf mean anything to them?

Re: SFTP help needed

stream_lf is the usual text file format on unix boxes. It may also be on windows boxes.

zipped files transfer well in binary mode

Re: SFTP help needed

Gary,

AFAIK, SFTP doesn't make the distinction between text and binary (like FTP does).

So I think files uploaded to VMS will be in one particular format - not sure whether it's STREAM_LF or Fixed Length 512 bytes.

HTH,
Martin
