TCP/IP LPR PRINTCAP Settings

Is there any way to change the 'lp' and 'rm' settings of a queue (change it to another server) without restarting the Daemon, deleting and redefining the queue or deleting the symbiont process?

As far as I can see, the symbiont reads the PRINTCAP file and holds this information in memory, but there might be a 'back door' program to allow these setting to be changed on the fly.

I wish someone had written a 'change' option into LPRSETUP.EXE anyway!

Re: TCP/IP LPR PRINTCAP Settings

Rob,

without testing - shouldn't stopping and starting the queue for this printer read the updated data from the PRINTCAP file ?

Re: TCP/IP LPR PRINTCAP Settings

Thanks Volker - the worked perfectly.

I'd assumed a single symbiont would handle more than one que, so stopping the queue wouldn't neccessarily cause the symbiont to shut down or reload PRINTCAP.

Of course - I was wrong :)
