Hi,
We use FTP a lot on our OpenVMS system, and the TCPIP$FTP_RUN.LOG file grows extremely large. Is it possible to create a new version of this file without having to shutdown the whole server?
The file TCPIP$FTP_RUN.LOG is in the directory sys$sysdevice:[tcpip$ftp.
Thanks
Andrew

Ensure the TCPIP$FTPD_IDLETIMEOUT logical name is not set to a large value. Preferably, leave it at the default.

Re: TCPIP$FTP_RUN.LOG file gorwiing too big
Something TCPIP engineering have never fixed. Log file management. Please complain. Maybe if they get enough requests they'll pull their finger out and make the relatively trivial code changes to be able to say "please close and open a new log file" without disrupting service. A very odd omission for what's supposed to be a high availablility product.
