UCX - Where can I get an evaluation license?

Running VMS 5.5-2 VAX 6420, VAX 8650, and VAX 8550. Need to install UCX in order to obtain TCP/IP capability.
Or if you know where I can get Pathway by Wollongong Group, I'd greatly appreciate it.

www.process.com also sell a tcp/ip stack which will run on that version.

Just to add to Ian's response, Process Software has two products with TCP/IP stacks - TCPware and Multinet. They offer 30 day evaluation copies of both.

Re: UCX - Where can I get an evaluation license?

I actually have MultiNet from Process. Unfortunately, it comes with a CD. These vaxes don't have CD's and the software is really too big to try to FTP to the server. I thought the VMS operating system already had UCX on it. All you need is a license to run it. I'm not sure where to get the license or how to get it. Any suggestions?

UCX is a layered product. As such it must be installed.

Look for UCX$* files in SYS$MANAGER: and SYS$SYSTEM: to see if it is.

Starla,

please see the following thread for a previous similar discussion regarding TCPIP:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=777541

The following thread has a pointer to a licensing contact list per geography:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=886371

What you need is a software loan license for UCX.

UCX is obsolete. It has been replaced by TCPIP.

Bob,

... but not on OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2, where UCX V4.2 ECO 5 is the latest available version of a TCPIP stack provided by Digital/Compaq/HP.

Starla,

maybe issue a SHOW LIC command to see, whether you already have a license, which would enable you to run UCX, e.g. UCX* or NET-APP-SUP-*

I do not see it on these systems. Should I be able to see it without the license?

Re: UCX - Where can I get an evaluation license?

Starla:
1. You would have to contract someone at HP about an evaluation license for UCX or TCPIP. Be sure to tell them you are running VMS 5.5-2 and have no CD drive. Also tell them what types of tape drives are on your three systems.
http://licensing.hp.com/swl/view.slm?page=index
2. If you don't have CD drives, you probably have or had TK50 tape drives. I've not sure what version of UCX (or TCPIP [newer HP replacement] would be appropriate for VMS 5.5-2. I don't know whether a TK50 UCX media came with VMS 5.5-2 or not. Even if it did, you would still need a license. You would also be limited by availability of UCX or TCPIP in a tape format that your systems can handle.
