UNABLE TO DISMOUNT A DISK

I am running: AlphaServer ES45 Model 2, OpenVMS AXP V8.3 (standalone system) with Process Software MultiNet V5.2 Rev A-X..

I am trying to dismount a disk that is mounted as system with: DISMOUNT DGA3:..

I receive:
%DISM-W-CANNOTDMT, DGA3: cannot be dismounted
%DISM-W-SPOOLEDEV, 1 device spooled to volume

How can I determine what is spooled so that I can dismount this disk??

Re: UNABLE TO DISMOUNT A DISK

I forgot to mention that when I do:
SHOW DEVICE/FILES DGA3:

that I get:

Files accessed on device $1$DGA3: (REXA PGB) on 22-JUN-2008 03:07:51.38

Process name PID File name
00000000 [000000]INDEXF.SYS;1

Re: UNABLE TO DISMOUNT A DISK

In addition to that old ATW topic, Google can be your friend here in ITRC, too:

http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=692750

There are some DCL procedures over in that thread that can locate which device is spooled to this device, and an explanation of the details of spooled devices.

There's certainly a reasonable case for an enhancement to SHOW DEVICE /FULL lurking here, where the command would detect and would display the disk device associated with a spooled device.

Re: UNABLE TO DISMOUNT A DISK

Randy,

While I agree with Hoff that having a command file to locate the offending spooled device is handy, I must admit that in many cases the problem is a SHOW QUE away.

Most likely, one of your printers is spooled.
