UnZip 6.0 released
Yes, you did live long enough to see this.
Source kits for Info-ZIP UnZip 6.0 seem to be
available now in the usual places:
ftp://ftp.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/src/
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=118012&package_id=268778
VMS object+executable kits should appear eventually.
For those who have been asleep for a long
time, UnZip 6.0 is the companion to Zip 3.0,
offering support for member and archive files
bigger than 2GB, and (optional) bzip2
compression. On VMS, better ODS5 support
(including symbolic links, where supported by
the C RTL), and better handling of status codes
and error messages. (Plus a typical boat-load
of other features and fixes.)
Alert observers may also notice a Zip 3.1b
pre-release ("BETA") source kit, near by. This
includes some VMS-specific fixes for problems
with ACLs and some badly documented ODS5
special characters.
ftp://ftp.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/beta/
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=118012&package_id=164540
Complaints are always welcome.

Is there some way to get attached to a list to be notified when "eventually" arrives for those of us who don't have the right compilers?
Thanks for your efforts!

Re: UnZip 6.0 released
Plow through the noise on comp.os.vms?
(Bring a big shovel.)
I hear this there from Mr. Goatley:
I've created my usual VMS distribution, which
includes a [.VMS-BINARIES] directory
containing object files for VAX, Alpha, and
Itanium.
ftp://ftp.process.com/vms-freeware/fileserv/unzip.zip
ftp://ftp.process.com/vms-freeware/fileserv/unzip.bck
http://vms.process.com/ftp/vms-freeware/fileserv/unzip.zip
ftp://ftp.tmk.com/vms-freeware/fileserv/unzip.zip
http://www.tmk.com/ftp/vms-freeware/fileserv/unzip.zip
I haven't checked, but I believe that his
kits lack the optional bzip2 compression
support. If this leads to trouble, we could
probably arrange something else.
