Unable to print after replacing Printserver & Printers
Dear,
Platform details:
DEC TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS VAX Version V3.2
on a VAX 4000-50 running OpenVMS V6.1.
Hope the above server not emulated version.
We had a printserver, few printers and few print queues setup and were working properily since many years until the printserver and printers were replaced with new recently. I have no details about old and new printserver and printers. The new printserver is 64 bit seems, but old is not.
Once the printserver and printers were changed, the jobs were not getting queued and nothing gets printed. We use same IP, the same documents are able to be printed via windows. IT service engineers (not VMS guys) who takes care of the VAX server say that the printers are working fine, and the changes are required in VMS (change in the profile?!!!) side.
I updated the host file with new printerver details with the help of vendor.I tried creating new print queue, tested with the following command "$print/queue=queuename filename", but still it doe work. when I run "LPQ TESTPRN", I get "%UCX-E-LPQ_LOSTCONNTO, lost connection to host xxhostnamexxx"
Can please give some idea please.
Thanks
Navipa

VAX? The VMS forum would probably be more appropriate than this
"Alpha Servers" forum:

Do you think that anyone here knows more about that than you do?
> [...] print queues setup [...]
The non-psychics here know nothing about your print queues.
show queue /full queuename
> Once the printserver and printers were changed, [...]
The non-psychics here know nothing about your printserver or
printers.
> I updated the host file with new printerver details with the help of

The non-psychics here can't see your "host file", and don't know how
you "updated" it. (I hope that you did not use a text editor.)
> [...] I tried creating new print queue [...]
show queue /full queuename

Please supply some useful information. Saying "print queue" tells
us nothing about how the VMS system wants to communicate with your
printers (or your "printerver", whatever that is). Saying "printserver"
or "printers" tells us nothing about them, either.
