User Logins are failing

Hi,

It not certain. But I faced a problem of users not been able to logon to the useraccounts. Apprently root user is the only one who can login.

Possibilities I noticed:
1] This all started after when I schedule a backup script in cron.
2]When the DBA was doing the Oracle 9i install.
3]users doing their work.
4] The Home Dir of the users is not getting accessed in login
(messge given: (a)No directory & (b)no shell)
Check & verified the dir is there with proper permissions and there is a shell.

Note: This is an Rebuild going on so at this stage the OS is up and basic S/W r installed. The verification and users coping their files and profiles are going on.

Regards,

Ryan

Re: User Logins are failing

Hello Ryan,

Are you sure this is the right forum for your question? Your mention of "root user" and "cron" makes me think you're OS is Tru64, HP-UX or some other UNIX operating system. This is an OpenVMS forum.

If the problem you have is indeed on an OpenVMS system, please post more details, including any error messages you have encountered.

Regards,

Camiel.
