I need a crack for this emulator which help me to study about VMS more.

The CHARON-VAX family of products are VAX replacement systems, running as a software application on industry standard systems. They present to the VAX software the exact copy of a VAX hardware system, and will run unmodified VAX operating systems, layered software and applications. You can install your VAX operating system (such as VAX/VMS, NetBSD or VAXELN) directly from its original distribution kit on the virtual VAX created by CHARON-VAX, or in many cases even copy a system disk image from the original VAX. The applications can be copied in binary format via the network, tape, floppy disk or CD. You can transfer your LMF license keys in the same way. Due to the fact that the VAX hardware is emulated and not the VAX operating system, all original software functionality is maintained, and CHARON-VAX runs even the VAX diagnostic bootstrap at system startup, at a very high speed. HP provides extension licenses for the CHARON-VAX environment, which provide a continuation of the existing HP software warranty agreements when running on CHARON-VAX. For more details look here.

There are difft types of emulators available for VAX's 3100, 4000, 6000, 7000, 9000 series families...

ex: CHARON-VAX/XL, a VAX 3100-98 emulator for the Windows 2003 Standard Edition or XP platforms with 512 MB emulated VAX memory. The CHARON-VAX/XL Plus version has an high speed VAX CPU emulator based on Accelerated CPU Emulation (ACE), providing up to 70+ VUPs system performance

CHARON-VAX/6610 Plus, CHARON-VAX/6620 Plus, CHARON-VAX/6630 Plus and CHARON-VAX/6660 Plus for Windows are maximum performance SMP VAX 6000-6x0 emulators on Windows 2003 Standard Edition or XP platforms with one, two, three and six emulated VAX 6000 CPUs and ACE, providing up to 400+ VUPs CPU performance and up to 2 GB emulated VAX memory.

Jees,

My apologies in advance if I am mis-understanding your request.

If you are requesting a tool to defeat the expiration or licensing of Charon-VAX, then it is highly inappropriate to ask for such assistance.

In my personal experience, some of the Charon products have had timeouts in them. If you are running the product for personal, educational use, you can resolve the problem by obtaining the newer image for Charon from SRI (see http://www.Charon-VAX.com ).

If you are using Charon-VAX in a commercial situation, please contact your SRI representitive to resolve the issue.

Once again, if I have mis-understood your request, my apologies (In the hacker vernacular, "crack" is a tool used to expose passwords or defeat protection schemes).

Can't help you with the crack, I doubt one exists either..... I seem to remember the full version of Charon requires a USB key dongle to work anyway.

don't know what kind of 'crack' you need...

In the past, SRI has always made available a new version of the CHARON-VAX demo software for Windows, before (or soon after) the previous one has expired.

Just check their download site again next month. There are also CHARON-VAX freeware versions to be run on OpenVMS Alpha, OpenVMS I64 or Linux.

I agree with other posters that a "crack" implies an intentional violation of licensing.

As a CHARON-VAX reseller [Shameless Plug Alert (tm)], I supply the full product for evaluation purposes for companies in my sales area (North America).

And, yes, there is a USB dongle which is programmed to self-disable when the evaluation period has expired. It can be extended on a case-by-case basis. To make it permanent, the sale must be completed by the evaluating company.

If you still want to violate the license agreement, I suggest you reformat your hard drive and attempt to install VMS directly. Let us know how that works for you...
